Cooperation with Germany 2025-2028

In 2025, the National Library of Latvia and the Latvian Librarians Association signed a cooperation agreement with the German Federal Union of Library Associations "Library and Information in Germany" (Bibliothek & Information Deutschland, BID) and launched a new strategic partnership with Germany from June 2025 to June 2028.

The partner country's initiative applies to all types of libraries and industry organisations, aiming to promote closer professional cooperation and knowledge exchange between specialists from both countries.

Over three years, the following activities are planned to be carried out:

• mutual information, including regular reports on library updates in professional publications, online, and on social media;
• thematic events and discussions, such as lectures, online seminars, and forums;
• exchange programs that include study trips, online meetings, and professional residency visits.
